Recently, the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, began his second term and defined the priorities for the development of the city as a 21st century metropolis with accessible infrastructure. "We have to double the city budget once again and make the next five years a time of intensive development for St. Petersburg. The city development program until 2030 also outlines other city projects that will be implemented jointly with the federal center. This includes modernizing schools built in the 60s-80s, creating new museums, building new bridges across the Neva, constructing new interchanges, launching high-tech enterprises, and actively building university campuses," said Alexander Beglov. On the instructions of the President, an all-weather resort, St. Petersburg Marina, will be created in Gorskaya. The Governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, also spoke at the ceremony, noting that the St. Petersburg development program for the coming years includes areas for cooperation between the two regions, in particular those related to infrastructure projects: the High-Speed Railway (HSR), the Eastern High-Speed Diameter (ESD), and the Ring Road-2. “Together, we have begun implementing engineering infrastructure projects, and there are good plans for joint projects in the social and healthcare spheres. Separately, there is an environmental project. We are working with you as a single entity, implementing a joint project to build modern waste-processing plants in the Leningrad Region,” Drozdenko added.
