The San Martino Fair has always been known as the 'fira di bécch', i.e. the 'cuckolds' fair' . The origin of this saying is not very clear but certainly ancient, the horns, therefore they are the symbol of this festival. They are hung under the Arch decorated with the colorful cords that were used to decorate the strong Romagna oxen when they were taken to the Fairs. Once hung, they give life to the mischievous, more or less playful ritual of those who try to pass underneath. If the horns swing during the passage, one must doubt the partner's faithfulness. The San Martino Fair is also synonymous with commerce : in Piazza Marini, to the delight of all gourmets, there is the Casa dell'Autunno , a large market exhibition where you can find the typical products of Italian cuisine from all the Regions and Beck's Food Truck , the area dedicated to street food on wheels. Besides the traditional street market , there is no shortage of exhibitions of old things, artistic craftsmanship, car displays, products and services for personal and home care. Furthermore, San Martino was and remains the Fair of traditions and the National Storytellers Festival , which Santarcangelo has hosted for more than thirty years, is one of those traditions that lasts over time and always attracts a varied and curious audience. The storytellers, with their simple and immediate performances, their naive or committed stories take us back to the street shows of the past.
