LA MOSTRA D'IGUALADA 2024: Theater Fair for Children and Youth

Mostra Igualada is the reference fair for performing arts for all audiences in Catalonia A great showcase of the best shows for children and young people, which annually gathers around 30,000 spectators and more than 1,000 professionals in the capital of Anoia, Igualada. Mostra Igualada has been a strategic market in Catalonia since 2013 A space for meeting, exchanging information and establishing contacts between the different agents who operate in the performing arts sector for all audiences. A fair whose aim is to be a platform for the dissemination of children's and youth shows, in order to provide programming for the municipalities and festivals of Catalonia and the State, and promote the internationalization of Catalan companies. A fair with more than 30 years of history that has its origins in civil society The first Theater Show was born in Igualada in 1990 promoted by the Moviment Rialles de Catalunya (functional delegation of Òmnium Cultural), a non-profit organization born in Terrassa in 1972 with the aim of forming local groups of volunteers to organize and offer children's and youth shows to its population. Apart from the 1991 and 1992 editions, held in Terrassa and Sabadell, they all take place in Igualada. In 1995, around fifty of these groups of volunteers, which gradually spread to other municipalities in Catalonia, formed the Fundació Xarxa , becoming, a year later, the main organizers of La Mostra d'Igualada. At the same time, since 1996, Rialles has continued to celebrate the Mostra in Cerdanyola del Vallès, with the exception of 2005, which is held in Sabadell. Finally, in 2006, at the will of the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries (ICIC), with the support of the Igualada City Council and the commitment of the Xarxa Foundation and the Rialles Group, the two theater fairs children and youth of Catalonia (Igualada and Cerdanyola del Vallès) are unified and the current Mostra Igualada – Children's and youth show fair is born.
